Chinese Steamed Yam Cake

Ingredients:-

Yam – 600 grams (Remove skin, grated or cut into small cubes)

Five Spice Powder – 1 teaspoon

Batter:- (Mix all ingredients)

Rice Flour – 300 grams

Topiaco Flour or cornstarch- 75 grams

Salt – 1 teaspoon

Pepper ½ teaspoon

Oyster sauce – 1 spoon

Sugar – 1 spoon

Light Soya sauce – 1 spoon

Water – 1050 ml

Garnishing :-

 Shallot - 15 pcs (100 grams)

(Fry with oil and keep half for decoration on top of the cake)

Spring onion – a few stalks, cut and sprinkle on top of the cooked cake

Chinese Mushroom – 50 grams (soak & cut into small pieces)

Dried prawn or shrimps – 80 grams (Soak with water, and chopped)

Salty Vegetable or salted lobak – 2 spoons (cut into small pieces)

Garlic - 4 cloves (cut into small pieces or chopped)

(1)   Stir-Fry garlic, shrimp and mushroom with 3 spoon oil until fragrant. 

(2)   Add in the grated yam , five spice powder, salted lobak and half of the fried shallot

(3)   Add in the batter and fry until a dough is formed

(4)    Put it into a tray (10  to 12 inch)

(5)    Steam for about an hour.
    

Sprinkle the fried shallots, sping onion and cut chilli on top of the cake. Press lightly with the back of a spoon.
